Sara Standley was a speedster when it came to the mile. She is still the 10th faster women 1 mile race walker in the world. From the late 1980's through the 1990's Standley was consistently in the top 5 in the US.
Her consistent near the top finishing in the rankings, lead Sara to compete constantly in the Pan Am Cup. Standley's 5 appearances at the Pan Am Cup peaked with a 5th place finish in 1992 in Guatemala City.
Standley's also competed in the World Cup twice. Although she improved by almost 9 minutes in her 10K time, both performances lead her to 82nd place
