2010 Penn Relays - Men's 10km Photo Story

Honestly, I didn't know what to expect from the 2010 Penn Relays race walks. I've been in charge of the race walks at the Penn Relays for almost 20 years. During that time, I've micro managed many aspects of the race and have always had a good bead on the competition. I was out of the country until just before the race and Mike Roth stepped up to help organize the athletes entries. It put me in an odd position of not really being in touch with my own event. I am glad to say everything went off great. The weather helped and many participants walked PRs, a race director's dream. :)

Tyler Sorensen took immediate control of the Men's race. Already qualified to compete in the World Cup in Mexico next month, Sorensen's goal was to break 44 and meet the qualifing time for the World Junior Track and Field Championships this summer. Dan Serianni was not about to concede victory, even though the two were technically in different events. They battled for a while, but Sorensen proved stronger pulling away to an easy victory.

While Tyler took home the watch, Serianni won the open division with Mannozzi and Kazmierczak battling it out for 2nd and third.
Alex Chavez, also competing at the World Cup, finished second in the junior division.
