2009 - 20K WOMEN'S NATIONAL RACE WALK
Once again, Eugene provided great weather for the 20K race walk. The athletes couldn't have had more ideal conditions as the cool dry air and shaded course provided the atmosphere for great times. In traditional Vaill style, she blasted out from the gun and never looked back. Joanne Dow similarly walked forward with confidence and was never challenged for 2nd place. Maria Michta, showing great technique, charged through to 3rd place, again without being challenged. The real race was for the battle for 4th through 7th place as Miranda Melville, Susan Randall, L'eerin Voss, and Erin Taylor all jockeyed for position early in the race.
