2009 - 20K NATIONAL RACE WALK

By 12K Seaman and Stroupe caught Shorey, but Shorey was done racing yet. The trio walked together, with Shorey continuing to surge and try to break the aging Seaman. Seaman stated after the race, "Thank goodness I do farleks for training or I would have been in big trouble." Seaman's experience paid off as he broke the field open at 17K and confidently blast through the final loops for what appeared to be an easy victory in 1:2614.26 and his 37th National title. Patrick Stroup hung on for 2nd in a PR of 1:26:41.44, while Shorey finished a respectable 3rd in 1:27:17.59.
