2009 - 20K NATIONAL RACE WALK

Shorey and Quirke initially pulled away from Seaman, Stroupe, and Tarintino, but it didn't last long. Shortly after leaving the track and entering the 1K loop course, the pack caught them. Shorey was not content to walk with the group and blasted away putting a good hundred meteres between himself and 2nd place, making a statement that he was going for victory. Wisely, Seaman and Stroupe stuck to their gameplan. Seaman hoped to negative split and walk away from the field. Tarantino and Quirke could not match their pace and dropped off.
