Watching the race unfold it was clear there were two camps of strategists: the conservatives and the aggressors. While the day started cool, it felt humid. Given the weather forecast it looked like the fog would burn off and the walkers would heat up.

Two walkers that shared the same strategy were Erik Tysse of Norway and Philip Dunn of the United States. Both started out conservatively, Tysse in 33rd and Dunn in 59th.
