2006 IAAF Race Walking World Cup

The 2006 USA World Cup race walking team stands out for many reasons. With the fast course and cool weather we have hopes of out team performing to their full potential. Never before has the US been in position to achieve so many A standard performances, this early in the Olympic cycle. Both John Nunn and Kevin Eastler stand an excellent chance at repeating their A standard times. Equally hopeful for an A standard are Joanne Dow who already has achieved the standard in the past as well as Teresa Vaill whose strong performance in the trial race shows that she is far from satisfied with one Olympic appearance.

Our team also has the distinction of having the oldest average team age with the three oldest men in the 50K and two oldest women in the 20K. Hopefully out promising juniors will change this situation in future World Cups. In contrast the Vergaras are two of only four fifteen year olds in the junior men’s 10K.
