2004 USA 15km Race Walking Nationals Photo Story
By 1K, Nunn and Clausen were content to walk stride for stride at a 4:09 pace. With no challengers, they walked comfortably as the lead pack of women lead the next charge. Walking at a 4:29/K pace, the women started a bit fast, but the determined group hung together. They were followed by Dan Pendergast, who figured the pace was fast, but wanted to give getting a qualifying time for the Olympic Trials a go. The women and Dan might have been smarter to stick with veteran Dave McGovern (not shown here) who went out right on A standard pace. Too bad for Dave it was the women's pace.
